Sam Hurrie is a blues/roots musician based in Powell River BC. He first heard John Lee Hooker shortly after he started playing in 1959, beginning a life long love affair with the genre. He has toured extensively across Canada, the US and Europe, and along the way has been fortunate to open for and share the stage with the likes of Muddy Waters, Albert King and Jimi Hendrix. Sam shares his love of blues with the audience, telling stories about the songs and the artists who first recorded them, playing an array of instruments, including vintage National steel and electric guitars, and performing material from different blues traditions, learned over an almost 60 year career in music.
